Pack in Layers

Because of the fluctuating temperatures, one of the best pieces of advice I have for anyone camping in the fall is to pack in layers. You will want some cozy face layers to keep you warm during the chilly mornings and the evenings however, you will need to be able to remove layers as the temperature warms up during the day.

Bring Blankets and Warm Drinks

Another great way to stay warm during the chilly mornings and evenings is to pack plenty of warm drinks. You can enjoy these drinks around the fire or pack them in a thermos to take with you while hiking. We recommend packing coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and apple cider.

Start Mornings with a Hike

A great way to get your blood pumping first thing in the morning is to take a hike. This is an excellent way to warm up since the weather is likely to be chilly first thing in the morning.

Plan for Rain

You are also going to want to plan for rain. Another complication of fluctuating weather is that it increases the chance of rain, so plan ahead. Bring plenty of raincoats, tarps to keep your outdoor equipment dry, and rain boots.
